When the final whistle blew at Platt High School’s graduation ceremony this summer, one name stood out in more ways than one: Jahi Mitchell. His walk across the stage represented not just academic and athletic success, but the strength of faith, family, and perseverance.

From Early Challenges to Strong Foundations

Jahi’s journey wasn’t always easy. As a child, he faced developmental and speech delays, challenges that could have slowed his growth both in and out of the classroom. But through the unwavering prayers and guidance of his mother, along with the supportive arms of his church community, Jahi learned to lean on God’s promises.

“Faith was always the anchor,” his mom shared. “No matter the obstacles, we reminded Jahi that God created him with a purpose.”

Faith on the Gridiron and the Track

On the football field and the track, Jahi’s work ethic was unmatched. His coaches saw not only his speed and skill but his heart for the game and his steady character. Whether it was celebrating touchdowns or quietly encouraging teammates after a tough loss, Jahi modeled Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

His commitment paid off—he was named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete, a rare honor that recognizes excellence in both academics and athletics.

A Mother’s Sacrifice, A Son’s Gratitude

Behind every accolade is his mother’s sacrifice. Working long hours, making hard financial choices, and leaning on her faith, she created a foundation of love and resilience. Jahi openly acknowledges that her dedication and their shared belief in God are the true reasons for his success.

“She taught me to stay humble, stay focused, and always put God first,” Jahi said.

Looking Ahead with Faith

This fall, Jahi will attend Central Connecticut State University on a full scholarship, where he hopes to walk onto the football team. But whether he earns a spot on the roster or not, Jahi is determined to live out his faith boldly in the next chapter of his life.

His story is proof that faith doesn’t just show up in touchdowns or medals—it shines in resilience, gratitude, and the courage to keep pressing forward.

A True Win Beyond the Scoreboard

Jahi’s journey reminds us that the scoreboard never tells the full story. Faith, family, and perseverance can carry us through the toughest battles—on the field and in life. For Jahi Mitchell, the greatest victory isn’t a trophy, but the testimony of God’s grace in every step of his journey.

✝️ Faith on the Field celebrates athletes like Jahi who live and compete with Christ at the center. Do you have a story to share? We’d love to hear how faith has shaped your journey.
